Keep your project ideas together.

For a 1973 Porsche 911 RS-style build, this fiberglass ducktail replaces the whole engine lid. It uses the standard early 911 hinge and latch positions, with threaded aluminum reinforcement built into the panel. GT Racing part 14 weighs about 12 lb.

Which grille does it use?

This lid takes an SC/Carrera-style plastic engine grille, sold separately. Check the grille on your car before planning to reuse it: the required insert is the later plastic style. The small aluminum grille sold for whale tails is a different part and will not fill this opening.

The ducktail and deck lid are one replacement panel. The engine grille is separate.

Fitting it to a longhood

Trial-fit the lid with the hinges, latch and correct grille before paint. Set the panel gaps and check that the latch closes freely. If your car has had a different tail or custom hinges fitted, check those mounting points first.

Finishing the rest of an RS-style build? The 1973 RS front bumper follows stock-width front fenders. Match the bodywork at each end of the car separately.

Application notes

RS-style replacement deck lid for a 1973 911 with the standard early hinge and latch layout. A separate SC/Carrera-style plastic grille is required.

Check the additional parts and hardware listed below.

Your car will need:

  • Earlier 911 stock hinge and latch mounting pattern
  • Use a separate SC/Carrera-style plastic engine grille; check the existing grille before planning to reuse it.
  • Trial-fit the hinges, latch and grille and set the panel gaps before paint.

Will it fit my setup?

  • The small GT16G whale-tail grille is not the required SC/Carrera-style grille.

Check these notes against the parts already on your car. Body panels may need trimming and alignment; trial-fit before paint.
