Bexco 001: 1968 911L Sports Purpose Build, 911R Inspired Outlaw

Bexco 001 was a 1.5 year restoration projection.

Originally purchased as a forward dated chassis, built to look like a 1992 911 Turbo, this project required extensive rework.

The chassis was stripped, and the vision was born.  A sports purpose, Short Wheel Base 911 with R inspirations.  We focused on building the car as ultralight, ultra stiff, and ultra quick!

Minor rust was cut out of the chassis, and the quarters were removed.

The car was sent up to Los Angeles, to our favorite restoration shop, for an even further strip down and build up!

Custom cheater quarters were assembled for the car, to ensure a wider than stock wheel configuration could work, all while keep the looks subtle.

The front hood latch mechanism was converted during the date forward, so a correct hood latch mechanism was added.

Here are a few shots of the car waiting to be block sanded.  Coming together quite nicely!

 And the finished product...

Phase 4 SEO context: what this build teaches

Bexco 001 is useful because it shows the difference between a pile of parts and a planned air-cooled 911 project. The build moved from a forward-dated starting point toward a short-wheelbase, sports-purpose, 911R-inspired direction, which means bodywork, stance, lightness, and visual restraint all had to line up.
